    CONCH HOUSE

    The Conch Republic was born on April 23, 1982 in response to a United States Border Control block of the Florida Keys. The government was attempting to stop any drug smuggling but in turn, shut down tourism in the Keys. The mayor of Key West had enough and seceded from the Union, hence, declared the island, the Conch Republic.
